Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they want to talk to in connection with a string of armed robberies across several counties including Staffordshire.

Police are trying to trace the man who is wanted in connection with raids in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and the North West.

A man has carried out seven robberies, including one in Stone, between December 19 and July 5. He has targeted travel agents, mainly branches of Co-op Travel, all with bureau de change facilities.

The robber struck at the office of Thomson Travel Agents, in High Street, Stone, in his latest robbery on Monday July 5.

He struck at around 3.10pm and was armed with a screwdriver which he has used in all the robberies. During the raid in Stone he also pushed one of the two female assistants. He kept them in a room while filling a bag with a large quantity of sterling and foreign currency.

He wore dark clothing and a beanie hat.

No-one has been injured during the robberies, but staff and customers have been left shocked and upset.

The man police want to question is believed to be using a silver Vauxhall Zafira. He is white, aged 40 to 50, around 5ft 11in to 6ft tall, with a thin to medium build.

He has untidy, thinning grey hair and is clean-shaven with gaunt features, a large nose, and pock-marked face.

Anyone with information about the man, or the car, is asked to phone 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
