Council staff who usually run activities at Dudley Museum at Dudley Archives and the Red House Glass Cone, in Stourbridge, are offering the activities throughout the coronavirus lockdown.

New content unlocking the history of Dudley Castle during the Civil War has been uploaded, giving people an insight into an exhibition coming to the gallery once Government restrictions are lifted.

To celebrate Dudley Castle being 950 years old, the council is asking everyone in Dudley to be involved in the creation of a virtual exhibition for the castle. People can create an image, design, Lego building, shape poem or junk art design of the castle, photograph it and email it to dcep@dudley.gov.uk. An online exhibition will be created and as a partner of the project, Dudley Council will share it on its website too.

The council's 'avin-a-loff' section also features a range of free online activities and resources aimed at primary school aged children. Fun learning tasks include counting trilobites, glass word searches and a materials hunt around the house.

Councillor Ian Kettle, Dudley Council's cabinet member for enterprise and economic regeneration, said: "It is sad that many of our centres have had to close to the public at the moment, due to the coronavirus outbreak, but we strongly believe that people can continue to connect and learn using #DudleyStaysHome

"Our wonderful museum and visitor attraction teams are working hard to create a range of activities for people of all ages to enjoy online and I would encourage families and individuals to look at the wonderful resources available.

"Once again, I also want to thank the wonderful people of Dudley for following government guidance, staying at home to help save lives and protect our NHS."
