A brand new beer festival is coming to Codsall.

The inaugural Codsall Beer Festival will be held at the village hall on October 3, offering more than 25 real ales and 10 ciders from independent and local breweries.

Tipples from Dudley-based brewers Holden's will be on offer, as will ciders from Barbourne, a family-run Worcestershire-based company, while Codsall

Family Butchers will provide snacks and food.

The one-day event will feature performances from local musicians and various activities for younger children to take part in, including a bouncy castle, while the adults test the beer.

Organiser Andy Evans, from Codsall, will donate money raised throughout the day to Codsall Community Group and the Harry Will Walk charity, which aims to raise £80,000 to send a three-year-old from the village with cerebral palsy for life-changing surgery in America to help him walk independently.

Mr Evans said: "I am excited for this festival for so many reasons.

"Firstly, I think Codsall needs its own independent beer festival, I hope this is just the start of something that can run and run.

"Secondly, I am very happy to be contributing to some great causes.

"I want to give something back to the community and the Codsall Community Group do so much to help the village, any money they are given will be in good hands.

"Harry's family has such a huge target to reach and I know they are grateful for any help they can get.

"If the event is a success I want to grow it next year and stretch it to a three day thing."

The Codsall Beer Festival is a free event, with those who attend only required to pay for their glass and beer tokens.

Local musicians set to perform on the day include Alexandra Jayne, who recently supported James Blunt at the NIA, as well as bands Priory Road and Cosmic Goldfish.
