Red carpet selfies with star Tom Hardy

Screams, cheers and selfies – film fans went wild for Hollywood star Tom Hardy when he arrived in Birmingham for the premiere of his latest movie, Locke.

Directed by Birmingham film maker Steven Knight, it premiered last night in the heart of the city where the story begins. Cineworld on Broad Street hosted an invitation-only audience packed full of celebrities, footballers and reality TV stars including Wolves star Jamie O'Hara and wife, former Miss Great Britain Danielle Lloyd.

Star of the film and actor of the moment Tom Hardy, who played villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, was the main red carpet attraction as more than 200 hundred fans lined the barriers to get a selfie with the actor.

The star of the new series of Birmingham-based Peaky Blinders spent more than an hour talking to fans, signing autographs and posing for pictures.

He arrived at 6.15pm and the film was due to start at 7pm but the actor was still talking to fans at 7.30pm.

The actor, who shot to fame with with hit films including Bronson and Inception, remained tight lipped about what fans of Peaky Blinders could look forward to in the next series, but praised Mr Knight on both the film and series. Members of UB40 also attended the bash alongside football stars from Aston Villa, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion. The film, which is released tomorrow, is set solely in a car for the 90-minute duration, and the only actor on screen throughout is Hardy.

In the motorway-based movie, which begins in Birmingham, Hardy plays Ivan Locke, a construction site boss whose life unravels after he deserts the biggest job of his career.
