New store openings have helped boost sales at Beatties owner House of Fraser, which is battling with the fallout from the Icelandic banking collapse.
House of Fraser bosses showed off their new store at the massive Westfield shopping centre in west London, and played down talk of the economic downturn, with chairman Don McCarthy saying: "It's about the next five to 10 years."
Group sales since the year-end on January 26 were up 2.7 per cent, with the new stores in Belfast, High Wycombe and Bristol contributing to the improved performance.
Announcing full-year results for the 12 months to January 26, House of Fraser said full-year sales were £1 billion, with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of £68.1 million.
