Murder investigation after woman's body found in Birmingham

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman's body was found in Birmingham.

Police were called to an address in George Road, in Stockland Green, at around 8.25pm last night, following a report a woman had been stabbed.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, the 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

The incident is thought to be domestic related and West Midlands Police say they are not looking for anyone else at this stage.

Detective Inspector Stuart Mobberley, from the force's homicide team, said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

“An investigation is underway and a forensic examination of the scene is currently taking place as we try to establish what happened.

“I would urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as they can."
