Dudley primary school praised for its commitment to wellbeing
Kates Hill Primary has received a three-year accreditation recognising its work to support the emotional wellbeing of pupils, staff and families
A Dudley primary school has been recognised for its work supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of pupils, staff and families.

Kates Hill Primary has been awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools following a comprehensive verification process, with the accreditation recommended for a three-year period.
The verifier praised the way wellbeing has been embedded throughout school life, concluding that the school puts the emotional wellbeing of its whole community “at the very heart of its best practice”.
The report highlighted pupils' growing confidence in talking about their feelings and emotions, as well as the support available through initiatives including Aspire and Hamish and Milo.

Parents and carers also spoke positively about the help provided by the school, while staff described a culture in which they feel valued, listened to and supported.
The verifier also recognised the commitment of headteacher Mrs Woodhouse and her team to making positive mental health and emotional wellbeing central to the school's ethos.
Mrs Woodhouse said: “Achieving this national accreditation is a significant milestone for Kates Hill Primary and a testament to our whole-school commitment to wellbeing.
“We place wellbeing at the heart of school life, ensuring that every child, member of staff and family feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

“We are proud that our efforts have been recognised and will continue to champion positive wellbeing as a cornerstone of our school's vision and values.”
The school plans to continue developing its work by strengthening partnerships with parents and the local community, creating further wellbeing experiences and safe outdoor spaces, and providing staff with additional mental health and wellbeing training.
