The event takes place on Saturday, August 8, at 11am and will see Kelly discuss how and why she began her BookTok journey, as well as some of her favourite books and authors.

BookTok is a hugely popular community on TikTok where readers post reviews, recommendations and reactions to books, helping millions of people discover new titles.

Kelly, who posts under the username @kelly86booktok, began sharing her love of books in 2022. Since then, she has built an audience of more than 4,100 followers and received more than 31,500 likes across her videos.

Sue Morgan-Salcombe, library manager, said: "BookTok is a digital book club that has become a powerful marketing force in publishing.

"It's been credited with changing the way people find new books to read, and this is an opportunity to hear Kelly talk about her own experiences.

"She will also be discussing some of her favourite books and authors and is happy to answer questions."

Places at the event are free but must be booked in advance by calling Halesowen Library on 01384 812980.

Stephanie Rhoden, GLL partnership manager, said the event comes during the National Year of Reading and highlighted the growing influence of BookTok.

She said: "BookTok is certainly playing an important role in helping people discover the joy of stories.

"BookTok videos can drive huge spikes in book sales and push little-known titles to the top of global charts. Kelly is a significant influencer in the book world and I'm sure her talk will prove fascinating."
