Steve Bull: Takeover patience needed as time runs out for Wolves

Well it's been another week of speculation and rumour about a potential Wolves takeover.

There's no smoke without fire as they say but until it's concrete we just have to wait. And then wait some more.

I've had so many phone calls asking what's happening.

Well I wish I knew!

You've just got to let the Wolves board get on with in and trust that they're doing the right thing for the club.

It's a huge process to go through and there's no quick solution.

It's not like buying a second-hand car – there's an awful lot of negotiating to do and details to finalise.

It's certainly not a straightforward process.

But, as we all know, the longer this goes on the worse it will be.

The biggest concern is the sale of the club, but there is the issue that we're only three weeks away from the start of the season.

They'll be wanting to bring players in as soon as possible.

But as far as Rotherham away on August 6 goes I'm not too concerned at the moment.

We've got enough to put out a good side that made a half-decent finish to the season last year.

The transfer market situation as it stands isn't ideal, but there's a good group of footballers there who we shouldn't write off.

The players are in limbo but they've got to carry on with their jobs.

And the same goes for Kenny Jackett. There's no sympathy from me, Kenny's just got to get on with it.

Managers come and go – Kenny knows the routine.

He'll have known this might be a possibility since Steve Morgan put the club up for sale and until he's told otherwise he's got to prepare the players as best he can.

Everything's in doubt at the moment – Kenny's position, the buyer, transfers, but once everything's sorted we can move forward as a club.

Elsewhere this week, Kevin McDonald appeared to move closer to leaving the club.

After everything that's happened with Kevin in the past year that's no surprise.

He wasn't at his best last season and it seemed like there were some issues with Kenny as well.

He's a huge talent on his day but if the deal's right for the club then we'll take the money and move on.

I know how Mike Williamson must be feeling after he had another injury setback.

When you're starting from scratch again that can be the worst time to suffer recurrences. Let's hope he's back sooner rather than later.
