Sleepless Wolves boss Dean Saunders asks for help

Dean Saunders today revealed he is having sleepless nights at Wolves' slump – and is calling on his old gaffers for help.

Wolves went into today's visit of Leeds fourth bottom of the Championship, two points above safety and eight games without a win. Boss Saunders admitted he is anxious to arrest the club's decline, which sees Wolves without a win from his four games in charge before today.

"If we lose I don't sleep; I go home and I can't get my head around it," said Saunders.

Despite his sleepless nights, Saunders insists he will turn things around.

"I know what I'm doing, I know what the plan is, and we're going to get some slaps along the way," he said.

"I'm not going to change this team into a promotion-winning one all of a sudden."

Saunders regularly talks to his former mentor Graeme Souness, who signed him for Liverpool, Galatasary and Benfica, and Express & Star columnist Ron Atkinson and Arthur Cox, who managed him at Villa and Derby respectively.

"I do what I think is right but sometimes you want people to confirm what you're thinking," he said. "I speak to Graeme, and Big Ron and Arthur Cox ring me now and again and I speak to lots of different managers. I ask all their opinions, just like I ask all the staff here."
