Mick misses out to Keane

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has missed out on the February Manager of The Month award – to arch-rival Roy Keane.

The duo infamously clashed as Republic of Ireland manager and player at the 2002 World Cup and McCarthy's Wolves and Keane's Sunderland produced identical records in February of four wins and a draw from their five league games.

But Keane picked up the award after steering the Black Cats into the play-off positions with 11 goals and just two conceded, including victory over promotion rivals Derby.

Wolves' record was achieved with eight goals scored and three against, but crucially included a hard-earned win at promotion rivals Preston.

Albion, whose boss Tony Mowbray was fourth with three wins and two draws from five league games, will be hoping the curse of the award strikes on Saturday – when Sunderland are at The Hawthorns.

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins scooped the League One award after steering the Iron to five victories out of five to open up a nine-point lead over Yeovil.

Danny Wilson was the League Two winner after Hartlepool picked up five wins in as many games, including victory over former leaders Walsall. They now sit three points clear of the Saddlers at the top.
