21.00: Two hours to go. A year on from his famous move to Anfield, Andy Carroll has scored against Wolves. 1-0 Liverpool.

20.38: @stevemadeley on Keith Andrews latest: Noises coming from #wba suggest deal is close for Andrews. Don't expect much of a transfer fee if anything. They're expecting a late finish. Late finish re Andrews. Still has to do medical yet.

20.03: Former Expressandstar.com deadline day live veteran Craig Birch weighs in with this one: Neville Thompson seals Rangers exit Stafford Rangers mix it with the Prem rumours giants.

20.00: Three hours to go! Wolves have kicked off their home game with Liverpool and it is one of their old boys, Keith Andrews, who could be making a surprise return to the Black Country but this time to Albion. He was at Wolves for five years until 2005. Plenty of rumours around but not a lot of action regarding our clubs. Stay tuned for more.

19.52: More from Madeley. With little for everyone else to work on, he's flying the flag for our writers at the moment: The North West journalist who first mentioned Andrews (no, it wasn't Sky) is now claiming a fee's been agreed. Still silence at this end.

19.47: Steve Madeley on the Keith Andrews to Albion rumour: "Just spoke to Andrews' agent (very briefly). Wouldn't take question, let alone answer one, but things do seem to be happening."

19.25: More on both the stories below: Gunners snap up youngster Eisfeld

Kyrgiakos joins Bridge on Wearside

19.10: Sunderland have confirmed that ex-Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has joined the Black Cats on loan for the remainder of the season from Wolfsburg. He was one of the better players under Roy Hodgson but never really looked set to be an Anfield legend.

19.05: All sorts of speculation around tonight's Premier League line-ups. Wolves have Emmanuel Frimpong back sooner than expected after his injury in the Aston Villa game - a few E&S.com commenters immediately claimed he would be out for three months, so he's back after 10 days. Kevin Doyle on the bench. No Jermain Defoe (2008 deadline day mover from Spurs to Portsmouth) for Tottenham but he's injured, not going to Liverpool, apparently. Their opponents have no Hugo Roddellega starting against Spurs at White Hart Lane. He's on the bench and being linked with, well, Spurs....

19.00: Four hours to go! It definitely is transfer deadline day - Arsenal have signed a promising unknown 19-year-old! "Attacking midfielder Thomas Eisfeld has completed a move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract." That should stop the rot. Fair play to Arsene Wenger. He's sticking to his guns. We've not even got 19-year-olds signing to our clubs this evening. But stay posted.

18.51: It's still a bit quiet so here's one from Sky Sports: "Sky Sports sources understand that West Brom are interested in bringing in midfielder Keith Andrews from Blackburn."

18.40: Away from our patch, a lot of the deadline day action is in London. West London for QPR, who are still trying to agree terms with Fulham striker Bobby Zamora, after signing ex-Liverpool hitman Djibril Cisse. Crystal Palace are snapping up non-league players and West Ham are trying to finalise a deal for promising Man Utd youngster Ravel Morrison, who has fallen out of favour with the Old Trafford hierachy.

18.15: Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic is, say Everton, having a medical and discussing personal terms.

17.54: When it comes to Albion matters, you don't want to go any further than stevemadeley Here he is on Peter Odemwingie: Checked several times in recent weeks on PO to Fulham rumours and been told each time there has been no contact, formal or otherwise.

There's five hours to go but that rumour would seem dead in the water.

17.47: Fulham have completed the signing of 28-year-old Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak on a permanent deal. He was at one time thought to be a target for West Brom.

17.43: Right let's take a quick look at where we are locally. Liam Ridgewell has joined West Brom for £1.5 million. Andy Keogh has left Wolves for Millwall in a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee. We expect Joe Mattock and Gonzalo Jara Reyes to sign on loan for Brighton. Apart from that . . . err.

17.00: Six hours to go - we're going to need a few big deals to stop this being one of the dullest deadline days on record. Come on Harry it's time to deal.

16.49: Looks like Joe Mattock and Gonzalo Jara Reyes will be heading to Brighton on loan.

16.40: He's frantically wheeling and dealing in the market but QPR boss Mark Hughes won't take his eyes off tomorrow night's clash with Villa. "Having to prepare for a game is obviously important from my point of view as it is that my focus isn't taken away from the game, which it won't be," he said. "It is the distractions you have to be conscious of and make sure they don't have an impact on your performance."

16.25: Steve Madeley has the full story on Liam Ridgewell: West Brom complete Liam Ridgewell signing Steve also has the latest on Gonzalo Jara Reyes and Joe Mattock. Make sure you follow Steve on Twitter: @stevemadeley

16.06:The Albion club site has more on the Liam Ridgewell deal, including obligatory shirt pic:

16.04: DEAL! Liam Ridgewell has signed for West Brom, confirms @stevemadeley: "Albion complete signing of Liam Ridgewell for around £1.5m. 2-&-a-1/2-year deal plus one-year option. Ridgewell will not be available to face Fulham tomorrow. Registration needed to be completed by midday today."

16.01: SEVEN hours to go. West London hairdressers will be practising their most elaborate beard designs in preparation for the new arrival at Loftus Road: Cisse signs for QPR A Champions League winner with Liverpool, French international Cisse has also had a spell at Sunderland as well as Lazio, Marseille and Auxerre.

15.30: More on Corluka here: Corluka joins Leverkusen

15.24: News from elsewhere. Spurs right back Vedran Corluka has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the rest of the season. The Croatia full-back has made 107 first team appearances for Tottenham. England Under-21 full back Adam Smith has left Spurs for Leeds on loan until the end of the season.

15.00: EIGHT hours to go, deadline day fans. Not a great deal to summarise from our neck of the woods. Wolves striker Andy Keogh has joined Millwall. Liam Ridgewell is likely to sign Albion. Peter Odemwingie is going nowhere, says Roy. Nothing happening at Villa, says Big 'Eck. Ditto for Saddlers. But then there's always the unpredictable, isn't there? Who remembers these two from last year - was that really just a year ago? Combined league goals since: 7.

14.35: All the latest Albion news from @stevemadeley: Roy Hodgson rubbishes reports of Peter Odemwingie to Fulham. "He's not for sale, and what's more we have had no enquiries."

Liam Ridgewell has agreed terms with Albion. He's now in final stages of medical. Hodgson expects deal to be done by end of day.

Ridgewell is believed to have agreed a two and a half-year deal, although we await confirmation.

14.29: DEAL! Roberto Mancini's favourite golfer Wayne Bridge - who denies he even plays golf - is finally leaving Man City - on loan at least: Sunderland complete Bridge deal

14.28: More from elsewhere. Could Wigan be losing one of their strikers? Whelan ready for Rodallega bid

14.25: More from the Alex McLeish press conference, courtesy of @TimothyAbraham: "I'm not frustrated at all because I knew the parameters in advance. If the board say 'no' then at least you get the answer.

"I don't think we've ever steered off the course with the financial situation and said there would be new players. We said we would only trade if there was an appropriate bid for one of our players, but that hasn't happened."

14.01: Alex McLeish has also laid to rest the long running "Darren Bent to Liverpool" rumours. Timothy Abraham reports: McLeish also responded for the final time in this window to long-term rumours linking striker Darren Bent with a move to Liverpool. "Did anything come near with Liverpool? No, nothing near it," said McLeish. "I've never seen any change in attitude from him as a player either."

13.57: Any Aston Villa fans who have kept a car running so they can rush down to the training ground for new additions to their player autograph books, you may want to put your feet up.

Our man Timothy Abraham reports: Villa boss Alex McLeish has just said at his press conference moments ago, ahead of his side's game against QPR tomorrow, that the claret and blues are unlikely to do any further business.

"If there was any business all you journalists would be standing at the gates outside the training ground! But seriously I doubt anything will happen at this late stage," said McLeish.

"I can understand the fans are anxious to see fans bring in new faces but it is not going to happen here during this window."

Without wishing to rub it in, the arrival of £9.6m Ashley Young in the January 2007 transfer window seems a long time ago now.

13.28: More on Joe Mattock. It seems that Burnley are now being tipped to battle it out for his signature.

13.08: Reports that former Wolves and West Brom target Nicky Maynard has been spotted at Upton Park. That's come from straight out of left field.

13.05: More on Man Utd starlet Ravel moving to the Hammers: Morrison undergoes Hammers medical

12.55: When the Ridgewell deal is completed it seems likely that Joe Mattock will go out on loan for the rest of the season - not sure where yet though.

12.52: Strong suggestion that Everton's Louis Saha is bound for Tottenham as master wheeler dealer Harry Redknapp starts to spin his transfer deadline day magic - now that's T'riffic. We could also see Steven Pienaar going in the opposite direction.

12.37: Up the M6 Stoke City winger Ben Marshall looks like he's on his way to Leicester.

12.36: Over the border (from the West Midlands) it seems that Shrewsbury striker Terry Gornell is a potential target for Rochdale, but it seems the Shrews are unwilling to let him go.

12.15: Everton have confirmed a deal for Rangers' Croatia striker Nikica Jelavic, which would seem to scupper the chances of the cash-strapped Merseysiders poaching Kevin Doyle from Wolves. Read more here: Everton agree fee for Jelavic

11.55: There's a press conference at The Hawthorns at 1.30pm - but it's the scheduled one ahead of West Brom's clash with Fulham tomorrow night. But expect Roy to get asked the odd transfer question or two.

11.54: Away from the West Midlands QPR hold Zamora talks - provided they can match his wage demands. It will be Bobby's fourth London club after spells at Tottenham, West Ham and Fulham.

On his move to Milwall - one of Mick McCarthy's former clubs - he said: "Millwall are an ambitious club with passionate fans and I'm delighted to be joining them. I'm sure I'll settle in quickly and hopefully can play my part in helping the team become successful. I'm now looking forward to moving down with my family, getting settled and start concentrating on my football again."

10.32: DEAL! Keogh is confirmed as signing a two-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Chelsea seal De Bruyne deal

10.20: Still a bit short on done deals. Villa fans on Twitter suggesting that James Collins and possibly Emile Heskey could join form Villa boss Martin O'Neill at Sunderland with Craig Garder going the other way - frankly unlikely.

9.48: Our West Brom blogger Jarrod Hill reckons Hawthorns chiefs are waiting to hear from a Premier League club about a possible loan move. There's no doubting that Jarrod will be with us right through until 11pm - and possibly beyond.

9.24: Writing in the first edition of the paper Steve Madeley reports that West Brom have agreed a fee for Liam Ridgewell and are talking personal terms with the Birmingham City defender.

9.19: Not everybody loves transfer deadline day as much as us and Sky Sports News. If you need some respite, David Mitchell's 2008 criticism of the fake excitement of transfer windows is worth a revisit: "Essentially, "Human Resources". So-and-so is reported to be meeting what's-his-name about a new job. AN Other is in talks with thingummy about a move down south. I mean, what's next? Reports on clubs' heating bills? In-depth analysis of a damp problem in one of the stands at Anfield?"

9.17: Martin Swain reveals that Wolves have suffered a deadline-day blow in their efforts to sign a "premium player."

9.00: 14 hours to go - just had a word with the lads on the sports desk here at the Express & Star. West Brom correspondent Steve Madeley says the Liam Ridgewell deal is close. He also says that, as always with Albion, there are a few other irons in the fire - so it's worth checking back throughout the day to keep bang up-to-date.

Martin Swain, who is in the Wolves seat today, is on the phone to Jez Moxey so we'll report back as soon as he's finished writing his copy for the first edition of today's paper.

Over at Villa Park correspondent Timothy Abraham expects 'nothing to happen' while our man at Walsall Nick Mashiter says the club are trying to do something but reckons it may not be until the loan window reopens next week.
