The Baggies bounced back from successive away defeats and a mini-slump of one point from a possible nine with a 2-1 victory over the Seasiders.

Mowbray admitted Albion's confidence had been dented by their recent results, resulting in them being at nothing like their best in beating Simon Grayson's newly promoted side.

But he insisted the victory, which lifted his side back up to second in the Championship table for at least 24 hours on goal difference from Bristol City, Plymouth and Stoke, was vital to help get the defeats at Southampton and Colchester out of the systems of players and fans alike.

"I think it starts to kick back the belief and the confidence again," said Mowbray.

"It was obvious last night that there was a nervousness about the team and a nervousness about the support. Hopefully that will kick start the belief again.

"At home this year we have been pretty impressive for a vast majority of the time and pretty fluent.

"Sometimes you have got to grind out three points from not your most fluent performance because everybody looks at the league table."

James Morrison's first goal for the club ultimately sealed victory for Albion in a game where Mowbray admitted Blackpool had a case for sharing the spoils.

But the boss is confident the shackles will again come off the Baggies when struggling Norwich visit The Hawthorns on Saturday.

"We're in a results business and ultimately we have got the job done with a bit of quality," added Mowbray.

"I can sit here and say that it was the little bit quality between the teams that won it with a great strike."
