Ellington's a dead leg doubt

Nathan Ellington is hoping for a rare start tonight to push his claims for a full role in Albion's promotion push.

But "The Duke" could be hampered by an injury at the worst possible time.

The 26-year-old striker put his January "want-away" turmoil behind him with a brilliant winner against Cardiff last week which erased any lingering ill-feeling nursed by Baggies fans.

And, with manager Tony Mowbray keen to give 33-year-old Kevin Phillips a breather, the chance for a start in tonight's replay is beckoning.

"The only problem is Ellington has got a dead leg, although he should be okay," said Mowbray. "He got a knock at Leicester and hobbled around, but he should be fine.

"The other slight doubt might be Martin Albrechtsen who has got a hamstring injury. But we're hoping they will both be available."

Mowbray is keeping his selection to himself, but has admitted that Saturday's promotion crunch with Sunderland is weighing heavily on his mind.

Middlesbrough, however, are planning to field as strong a side as possible providing keeper

Mark Schwarzer shakes off a slight back problem.

But they will be missing Abel Xavier, who also has a back injury and is not yet ready to return after missing the Reading game on Saturday.

Otherwise their boss Gareth Southgate, having lost only once this year, is eager to "leave things as they are" to keep his team's momentum going.

And he says: "I'm glad the bookies make West Brom favourites.

"I understand why because they are in great form while our away results haven't been anything to write home about over the course of the season."
