'Another 40 games!' - West Brom star sums up newfound confidence under James Morrison

Star Baggies left-back pocketed two deserved end-of-season awards.

Callum Styles admitted in-form Albion ‘could do another 40 games’ and hopes momentum can be taken into next season.

The Baggies salvaged their Championship status with a stunning 10-match unbeaten run orchestrated by James Morrison and bring a forgettable campaign to a close at bottom club Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Left-back Styles, who claimed Albion players’ and supporters’ player of the season, has shone with consistency in a poor season.

The Hungary international reckons Morrison’s side could go for another 40 games and push on to a much stronger position. Morrison’s future at The Hawthorns is yet to be resolved.

Styles said: “We don't want the summer to come.

“We're in good form, we feel like we could do another 40 games right now and then see where we're at then!

“But no, I mean, we'll enjoy the summer now. I think everyone's got a bit of a relief and we just want to stay ready for next season and hopefully it's better.”

Styles, who turned 26 in March, has featured in 44 of 45 Championship fixtures this season - 40 as a starter.

The Manchester-born left-sider also racked up his 30th cap for country of his heritage Hungary, where he plays in midfield.

Styles has two years left to run on the four-year deal he penned when arriving from League One Barnsley for a nominal fee in 2024.

“I love it here,” the left-back added. “I love the staff, love everybody, backroom staff, everything. The players are top, top quality lads.

“And the club's just a massive club. I was just blessed to be here when I arrived, taking everything in my stride and looking at the team when I first arrived I was like ‘wow, this team's unbelievable.’

“I'm just blessed to be here and we just have to keep pushing to what and where West Brom should be, and that's looking up, not down.”
