Yesterday, the Express & Star revealed iconic greats including Brendon Batson, Ally Robertson, Graham Williams, Joe Mayo, Daryl Burgess, Ray Wilson and Andy Johnson have all been calling season ticket holders over 70 to check they are OK.

And now first-team players and the club’s senior management team have joined the call force in a bid to lift the mood of supporters as the nation continues to come to terms with the coronavirus pandemic.

Alongside Brunt and Livermore, chief executive Mark Jenkins and sporting and technical director: Luke Dowling have also telephoned fans.

As have operations director Mark Miles, chief commercial officer Simon King, legal counsel Barney Ellis and director of communications Martin Swain.

It was also revealed the Baggies have offered their support to Sandwell Council as they continue to work to guide the borough through the pandemic.

Jenkins said: “We’re delighted to be working with Sandwell Council as to how we can co-ordinate with them. We are happy to use our channels to help get public health and safety messages across, reach out to our most vulnerable people and support everyone.”

Meanwhile, Alaves could offer Oliver Burke an escape from his Albion nightmare, according to reports in Spain.

The Primera Liga club – where the Scottish winger is currently on loan – are looking at handing the 23-year-old an extended stay in Spain, according to Spanish newspaper AS. It is not clear whether they want to extend his loan or to sign him permanently.
