Departing duo and loan pair: who featured in Walsall's 2025-26 player ratings
How did the Walsall players fare from our ratings across the 2026-27 League Two seasons?
It proved to be a disappointing season for Walsall in the end.
After threatening to mount another promotion push by sitting top at Christmas, the Saddlers ultimately fell by the wayside to plummet to 13th in League Two.
At the Express & Star, we hand out player ratings to mark performances out of 10 for each game.
Below we calculated Walsall’s average ratings across the course of the 2025/26 campaign.
Below in descending order is a list of 10 Saddlers men who averaged the highest rating. Players also had to feature in around half of the 42 games rated to make the cut - with only league appearances included.
Aden Flint - 6.79

Flint might sound like a surprise inclusion at top spot, but his inflated average rating owes much to his supreme form during the first half of the campaign.
The veteran earned a pair of 9-rated performances and no fewer than eight 8s over the course of the campaign.
However, his performances regressed after the turn of the year and the towering defender was among 12 players to be released.
Daniel Kanu - 6.51

Kanu was the Saddlers’ standout player last season, but the Charlton Athletic loanee only takes second spot in the 2025-26 average season ratings.
He netted 18 goals across all competitions for the Saddlers - including 15 in League Two.
That earned him the PFA young player of the season in League Two and four individual accolades at the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony.
Myles Roberts - 6.43

Roberts largely proved a steady presence between the sticks for Walsall during his loan spell from Watford.
His red card against Grimsby Town in February was a low point but he finished the campaign with 11 league clean sheets and a further 13 in all competitions.
Brandon Comley - 6.42

Often an understated figure at the base of midfield, Comley’s ratings were arguably the most consistent throughout the entire season.
His season started with an early red card against Swindon Town, but he recovered to play a key role, as he surpassed 150 appearances for the club prior to his departure.
Vincent Harper - 6.39

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the list is Harper, although many of his games coincided with the Saddlers’ table-topping form during the first half of the campaign.
He just made the cut after featuring in 23 games that were rated to sit fifth on the list.
Priestley Farquharson - 6.37

It was a strange final season for Farquharson in many ways, but at least he was able to prove his fitness for large periods.
In total, Farquharson scored five goals - including a brace in a 2-1 win at local rivals Shrewsbury Town in February.
However, a number of sloppy errors saw him handed a trio of 4s across the season.
Evan Weir - 6.34

Weir initially stepped out of the shadow of Taylor Allen following the latter’s departure last summer.
He had scored three goals in League Two by September 20: a stunning free-kick against Swindon on the opening day and a magnificent brace in a 4-2 success over Tranmere Rovers.
But his defensive shortcomings began to be exposed as the season wore on and he was left out for the final 10 league games.
The Irishman was released last month and has been linked with Peterborough United.
Albert Adomah - 6.32

His slightly lower average rating can be explained by a number of his appearances coming from the bench during the first half of the campaign.
However, the 38-year-old did collect an eight during his cameo from the bench in a draw at Chesterfield in January.
He was also handed the only 10 of the season for his mesmerising display at Crewe in March, which heralded a brace and an assist.
Connor Barrett - 6.29

A similar case to Weir in some ways after starting the season in scintillating fashion with three goals and two assists in his first 11 games.
He remained a regular until a 3-1 home defeat against Barnet in early February, before starting just twice in the final 17 league games.
Barrett has been heavily linked with a move to League One side Wigan Athletic - with just one-year left on his current deal.
Charlie Lakin - 6.25

Lakin was unable to replicate his reliable form from the previous campaign during his second season at Walsall.
The midfielder scored his only goal in a 1-0 win at MK Dons in September but ultimately struggled for consistency.
He has since been released after making 97 appearances for the club.
Other mentions
Jamie Jellis (6.13), Courtney Clarke (6.12) and Aaron Pressley (6.02) completed the list of those who were rated in more than half of the games in League Two.
Loanee Jid Okeke averaged 6.82 across 17 matches - while Alex Pattison finished with 6.4 from 15 games.
Harrison Burke and Mason Hancock saw their debut seasons interrupted by long-term injuries but emerged with ratings of 6.63 and 6.22 respectively.
