Fleetwood vs Walsall - predicted XI: Selection headaches in midfield for Mat Sadler

Charlie Lakin's suspension has presented Mat Sadler with a major selection headache, especially with uncertainty surrounding Jamie Jellis' fitness ahead of Walsall's trip to Fleetwood on Saturday.

Jellis trained with the squad on Thursday and will be assessed in the next 24 hours, after missing the past two games in all competitions due to a groin issue.

Ryan Finnigan is likely to retain his place in the team in the wake of Lakin's dismissal against Chesterfield last Saturday, but it will be intriguing to see who Sadler selects in the second potential No 8 vacancy.

Even if Jellis is passed fit, it feels doubtful that he will immediately be recalled into the starting XI. Significantly, Courtney Clarke, who has largely operated as a right-sided central midfielder during his cameos from the bench, switched to the left for the closing stages last weekend.

That suggests Clarke could plug the gap, with Jake Hollman or Ronan Maher poised to step up on to the bench, if Jellis does not travel to the Highbury Stadium.

Courtney Clarke could make his first league start for Walsall if Jamie Jellis is not passed fit on the weekend.

Sadler also has a difficult decision on his hands, just as he did on the previous Saturday, in terms of who to select on the bench.
