Snooker round-up: Hotshots A stretch their lead at Division One summit
Hotshots A moved 16 points clear at the top of Division One after romping to a 5-0 demolition over Hotshots B in the Staffordshire & West Midlands Snooker.
Jamie Brown won the final frame with a 45-break following wins for Faizan Mohammed, Karl Ashmore, Luke Higginbotham and Callum Downing.
Landywood B secured a crucial victory in their fight for survival after beating relegation rivals Pennefields 3-2 thanks to wins for Karl Payne, Chris Shwalbe and Peter Strazzanti.
Poets Corner are just one-point above the drop zone after falling to a 3-2 defeat at Baggeridge Social Club.
Dave Hall and Ade Ojelay put Baggeridge 2-0 ahead, before Darren Millard and Raj Bashal got Poets back on level terms, but Jamie Spencer won the decider for the hosts.
Andy Tapper made a 70-break to help lift Landywood B into fourth-place with a 4-1 victory over Shifnal War Memorial.
Elsewhere, Landywood A remain third despite losing Shifnal War Memorial B and Sedgley WMC moved up one place to seventh
Beaconsfield closed the gap at the top of Division Two to four points courtesy of a 3-2 win against struggling Essington WMC.
The first four frames were shared: Adrian Rowe and Mike Beasley for Beaconsfield and Ben Nicholls and Mitch Lowbridge for Essington, before Callum Wraight won the deciding frame for Beaconsfield.
Bilston Bowling Club moved into the third promotion spot after easing to a 4-1 victory against Poets Corner thanks to wins by Lee Edwards, Wayne Bentley, Tom Hurst and Ashley Wall.
Jesse Lowe produced the highest break of the week (44) although he was unable to prevent Charlemont Bowling Club B from losing 3-2 to Townsend Social Club.
In Division Three, Baggeridge Social Club B kept their promotion hopes alive after emerging 4-1 victors over league leaders Q Bar Juniors.
Mark Gilbert, Steve Spicer, Wayne Cooper and Alan Nelson propelled Baggeridge into a 4-0 lead, before Bobby Wilson averted the whitewash with a consolation for Q Bar.
Beechdale strengthened their promotion push with a 5-0 whitewash over fellow promotion challengers Goodyear Pavilion thanks to Jack Beattie, Aaron Gale, Josh Tolley, Jason Taundry and Richard Bagnall.
Kingswinford also climbed into the promotion places after beating Pennefields 3-2.
In the Challenge Cup quarter-finals, Hotshots beat Baggeridge 366-231, Bilston Bowling Club defeated Pennefields D 461-402, Aldridge Cons prevailed 504-384 over Fordhouses C and Dudley Ex Service emerged 445-375 victors against Charlemont Bowling Club B.
Q Bar Juniors and Poets Corner E both progressed to the last four of the Consolation Cup, while Callum Wraight and Billy Lanham along with Ash Barker and Roman Hutchings booked their place in the Pairs Medley semi-finals.
