"I'm not throwing away a game" - Wolves boss on striking a balance for Liverpool clashes

Bottom-placed Wolves are staring at relegation this season and supporters are desperate for a cup run, with the team just two wins from Wembley, but Edwards is trying to find the right balance after their impressive 2-0 win over Villa last time out.

The head coach admits he will make changes with an eye on both fixtures, but he is focused on getting a result tonight.

Edwards said: "The decisions that we make, people will see after the two games and the reasons will be dependent on the physical stuff, the information that we've got, knowing where they're at in terms of niggles and things like that as well, and also the game itself and how the game is going.

"There's all of those things to weigh up, so we can have a little bit of a plan, but we'll have to see how it goes tomorrow.

"There is an element of that, being aware that we've got to go again in a really big game on Friday."

"We're performing well," he added.

"In the last block of 10 games, I think we are competing more and we're kind of getting it a bit more to where we want it. We've been competitive in the league, we've been getting some results, we've been close. It's going the right way. 

"I'm not throwing away a game, I'm not doing that. We want to try and attack both. 

"Hopefully we can make the right decisions and give ourselves the best opportunity to do both."

Edwards has a fully fit Wolves squad at his disposal after Hwang Hee-chan recovered from a calf injury and Ladislav Krejci returned from suspension.

Andre and Yerson Mosquera need to get through the next three Premier League games, including tonight, without picking up a booking, otherwise they will be slapped with a two-match ban.

Meanwhile, Andre is already banned for Friday's FA Cup clash after getting two yellow cards in the competition before the quarter-final stage, and that is likely to play a part in Edwards' team selection tonight.

When asked about the importance placed on the cup by the fans, Edwards said: "I recognise that completely.

"The right answer and my only answer can be that we are going to want to win both games. 

"We're prepared that way, prepared as normal for this game. But between the two games, there probably will be a few changes.

"We've got a fully fit squad, but we know our squad is tight and short anyway, but we will really look to try and go for both. 

"I really recognise what the cup means to everyone and because of the situation that we're in, of course, we've got to go for that one."

He added: "That's a mindset thing. Especially after a win, it's easy to convince yourself, 'actually now I'm feeling all right and I'm ready to go again'. 

"That's important to say, we're not tired. We're ready. 

"We'll recover as normal, but then we make sure we get the balance right between what we do on the grass in training and what we can do with individual players or meetings. 

"But everyone will be going through that at this stage of the season anyway. There's a lot of games.

February was really busy for us. There were six games in 20 days, so it's been a tough month, but now we've had enough time to recover and we're ready for this one."
