Wolverhampton theatre to host poignant play looking at the home front during the First World War

Moving play to be performed during Remembrance season

A play looking at the experiences of the women left behind during the First World War is coming to a Wolverhampton theatre to mark the Remembrance season.

The Accrington Pals by Peter Wheeler tells the story of the mothers, wives, sisters and sweethearts left behind in a Lancashire mill town when the men go off to fight.

The play will be performed by the Studio 61 Theatre Group at Wolverhampton Arts Centre, from November 11 to 13.

As the war reshapes daily life, the women forge friendships, challenge social conventions, and discover new strength and independence amid loss and upheaval.

Emily Chell, curriculum leader for performing arts at Sandwell College, will make her debut as director for the production.

Performances start at 7.30pm each night, and tickets are £12 plus a £1.32 booking fee.
