A former Woolworths store in the Black Country is preparing to reopen as a new venture next week. TJ Hughes is opening a new discount department outlet in Walsall.
The new store in Park Street in the town centre, opens on Thursday, and has been kitted out inside and the shelves and rails have been filled, ready for the opening.
Workers are still busying themselves inside putting the finishing touches to the shop floor, and signs have been put up inviting customers to the store on the day of the grand opening.
TJ Hughes took over the site in a £1 million transformation, creating 100 jobs, earlier this year, and installed its trademark white and red signs last month.
What was left of the old Woolworths interior was ripped out and a whole new look created, which measures 22,000 sq ft over two floors of the building.
Walsall's regeneration chief Councillor Adrian Andrew, said: "I think TJ Hughes coming into the town is a real vote of confidence in Walsall.
"I'm sure it will bring even more people into the town centre."
The opening will finally bring the building to life after Woolworths closed in December last year, after the company went bust.
