Urgent repairs to 'dangerous' building in Shropshire town to close road for 5 weeks
The road closure was announced on Tuesday (November 3)
A road in Bridgnorth town centre is set to be closed 24/7 for more than a month due to a building needing emergency repairs as a result of flood damage that left it in a dangerous condition.
Church Street will be shut from Monday (November 9) until December 18, Bridgnorth Town Council has revealed.
The road closure will be in affect 24 hours a day during the period.

A spokesperson for the town council said: “The closure is needed for emergency repairs to a building left in a dangerous condition following flood damage.
“The closure has been arranged by Shropshire Council. Please follow the signed diversion and allow extra time for your journey.”
According to the One Network, which communicates Highway Authorities, Utility companies and contractors’ ongoing and future works, the road closure will allow for repairs to a Grade II listed building that has been hit by flood damage which has affected the building’s structure.
Text on One Network regarding the closure reads: “Emergency repairs to building Grade II listed and has sustained extensive flood damage from rain and moisture ingress.
“Due to the level of water entering the property, there is significant damage to the full structure of the building, including mould on the walls, floors and ceilings, rotten timber floor joists and supports, damaged windows and window frames, as well as damage to the building envelope in various locations leaving the building in a dangerous condition and at risk of further damage.”
