Traffic lights stuck on red causing tailbacks in Wolverhampton

Traffic lights stuck on red were causing delays and disruption in Wolverhampton city centre.

The temporary lights on Bilston Street, heading towards Bilston Street Island, have been on red since early this morning – causing hassle for motorists.

Some drivers have been spotted skipping the red light after realising something had gone wrong, when the light never turned green.

But those travelling a bit further back, who haven't realised the problem, stop again when they arrive at the red light – causing tailbacks.

The lights are managed by Midland Metro Alliance. Wolverhampton Council confirmed that a contractor is on site currently fixing the issue.
