Lanes reopen on M5 after fairground lorry overturned between West Bromwich and Oldbury
Lanes have reopened on the M5 in Sandwell after a fairground lorry overturned this morning (March 26).
National Highways West Midlands previously warned that two out of three lanes are closed on the motorway southbound between J1 West Bromwich and J2 Oldbury "due to an overturned lorry."
They added in a post on X: "All emergency services en route. Please expect delays, we'll keep you posted."
West Midlands Roads added: "Traffic is diverting off at J1 , around the island and back onto M5 via the entry slip. Expect delays from #M6 and around #WestBrom."
National Express West Midlands' 74 service is expected to face delays due to the incident, Transport for West Midlands warns.
In an update at around 9am, National Highways said the lanes had reopened. A spokesperson said: "Recovery of the overturned lorry is complete, the #M5 southbound at J1 (#WestBromwich) is OPEN.
"Please allow time for delays to ease, approx. 6 miles of congestion remain affecting both the #M5 and #M6 southbound."
Emergency services have been contacted for a comment.
