A 15-year-old boy has been charged after police recovered a knife during an operation at Wolverhampton bus station.

Officers from West Midlands Police's specialist Guardian Taskforce were carrying out a Project Servator deployment in Wolverhampton city centre when the teenager was detained.

Police said the boy was stopped and searched, with officers recovering a knife.

He has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and is due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court later this month.

The seizure was one of a number made by officers during proactive patrols across the West Midlands over the weekend.

In Birmingham, Guardian officers were patrolling around the city on Sunday when a man was detained after police said he reacted to the presence of officers.

The 19-year-old was detained on Washwood Heath Road and officers recovered a zombie knife.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and remained in custody for questioning.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man has been charged after a separate incident in Tipton.

John Medley, of Tipton, was arrested on Saturday, September 5, and charged with possession of a knife in a public place in Princess End.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Walsall Magistrates' Court on Monday, September 7.
