There's a special guest for Matt Murray!

There was an added blast from the past for former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray when he was reunited with team-mates from the club's 2003 play-off final win.

Murray, full-back Lee Naylor and captain Paul Butler were back in vogue at the Cleveland Arms Sports Bar,

writes Craig Birch.

Among the three-figure crowd at the pub, on Stowheath Lane, to see the 'Class of 2003' was Murray's old landlady Jan Morris.

A 16-year-old Murray moved in with Jan, her husband Dean and daughter Charlotte at their home on Coalway Road in Penn when he joined Wolves.

He would stay with them right up until Wolves were promoted to the Premier League for the first time, as a result of that 2003 glory against Sheffield United.

An emphatic 3-0 victory came at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, which was used as Wembley Stadium was being rebuilt.

Goals from Mark Kennedy, Nathan Blake and Kenny Miller had the result in the bag by half-time, despite attempts from the Blades for a comeback after the break.

Now-retired Murray, 35, preserved the clean sheet through a memorable save in the 48th minute, pushing away Michael Brown's penalty with power that could have come from the carbs!

The shot-stopper said: "I don't see Jan as much as I'd to like these days, as I work away a lot commentating on Sky Sports and I have a young family. This was a great chance to catch up.

"She was great with me and the other players that came from Wolves, who liked to put the young lads into digs with people they could trust. Robbie Keane was there before me.

"We always used to have spaghetti bolognaise for dinner at her house on Friday nights, it became like a ritual before games!

"Towards the end, I had my own house but I still stayed with Jan during the week, because she looked after me so well."

Bloxwich-born Naylor, who lives in Birmingham, officially called time from playing last summer at the age of 35 and is now working as a scout for his former agent, Dave Baldwin.

Centre-half Butler, 44, hung up his boots in 2009 and is a part of Manchester City's recruitment network in the North-West. He's still based in Knutsford, Cheshire, as he was when at Wolves.
