Sadness as last bank in Black Country town closes
The news of the closure of Lloyds was met with an outpouring of sadness on social media.
Locals have expressed their sadness after Willenhall’s last remaining bank closed its doors on Thursday.
Lloyds Bank closed its Willenhall branch on November 5, after saying ‘the majority’ of its customers choose to use online banking to manage their money.
It follows the closure of HSBC in 2017 and Barclays in 2018.
Some have said the move was just another blow to the town as digital alternatives cannot replace face-to-face services.

The news of the closure was met with an outpouring of sadness on social media.
One person said: “So sad every town should have one bank so where do we go to pay cheques in get money out etc.”
Another wrote: “I am so sad to hear of this branch closing.
“I opened an account with them a few years ago, although I did not have to go in there that often.
“When I had to, the staff who worked there were always polite and helpful.
“I understand that banking has changed and is now mostly done online. Although that is not a problem for me, I feel sorry for the elderly people who do not have any access to do online banking.
“I used to like the idea of going in there on a Saturday. I wish all the staff my best wishes and hope that this building will not fall into ruin and not converted into an HMO.”
A third said: “Going to miss this bank, been in this bank since I was 16 years old and I'm 49 now.
“Not fair on the elderly who haven't got online banking.”
Another commented: “It's absolutely disgusting, how about the individuals who relied on this bank who can't get up town to other banks.”
