Dixon's Butchers has now opened in the premises meaning the long-standing butcher's shop will continue to serve the Hurst Hill community, with the addition of a new hot food offering.

The business opened last week and in a social media post said it would be offering ‘all your quality meats, breakfast sandwiches, hot pork and beef sandwiches and lots more.’

The post continued: “Our Bilston shop will still be open as usual.

“If you’re passing by please pop in and say hello.”

The news was met with many messages of support.

One said: “Brilliant news thank you so much for giving us back a butcher. I have purchased from you many times from your Bilston shop and can recommend all your meat.”

Another said: “The best pork sandwich’s.”

A third wrote: “Wishing you all every success as you begin your exciting new business in Hurst Hill; it will be great to see the shop open again with the addition of hot food as well as a great selection of meat.”

The previous business, Stan Knowles, had traded from the site since 1981 before closing its doors, thanking generations of loyal customers for their support.

A notice placed in the window at the time read: “It has been an incredible journey, and we are truly grateful for the support, loyalty and friendship you have shown us.

“Thank you to all of our wonderful customers.”
