McLaren reveals limited-edition 570GT with “historic” green paint job
Just six ‘XP Green’ supercars will be built, painted the same colour as 1997 F1 XP GT racer
A special-edition McLaren 570GT has been revealed, painted in a “historic” green paint dubbed “XP Green”.
The colour is the same as the road-going version of the now-iconic F1 XP GT endurance racer had. Built in 1997 and known as ‘Longtail’, it allowed McLaren to race a more advanced version of its F1 supercar at Le Mans.
The 570GT has been given a makeover in British automotive colours to showcase the personalisation options available to customers through its McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division – just six will be made for the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
Inside there’s a Saddle Tan leather interior with green leather inserts and green contrast stitching. The exterior gets pin-striping to match the tan interior and a subtle silver-grey Union Jack emblem. Various MSO Black exterior components are also used, such as the rear diffuser, spoiler and front splitter.
Jolyon Nash, McLaren Automotive executive director of global sales and marketing, said: “Any McLaren is a very special vehicle, but we are also seeing an increasing number of buyers expressing a desire to personalise their cars with additional features and options as well as colour and trim choices outside of the core specification offered.”
The 570GT is considered McLaren’s most comfortable, luxurious model. It has subtle visual differences to the 570S, but comes with added practicality such as a luggage bay behind the driver.
Each vehicle is offered with identical upgrades at a total cost of £188,567, but customers can bump the price up with optional extras.
