Wolverhampton road blocked by police after pedestrian hit by car

A Wolverhampton road was blocked this morning after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

Compton Road was temporarily blocked on Tuesday morning.

Compton Road was closed by police after the incident just before 9am, where a man was treated for injuries not believed to be serious, before being taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Compton Road at 8.57am, two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"On arrival, we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to New Cross Hospital."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called after a pedestrian was struck by a car on Compton Road, Wolverhampton just before 8.45am this morning (24 October).

"A man in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening. The driver stopped at the scene."

National Express West Midlands announced at 9.30am that Compton Road had been closed due to the incident.

As a result, the 10 and 10A buses were diverted in both directions via Clark Road, Paget Road and Tettenhall Road.

The road has since reopened and the bus services have resumed their normal route.
