People will be able to visit their partners in postnatal bays and those who are receiving transitional care at the hospital.

Visits will be carried out to those on Beds A and D from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm – with the new changes enforced from Monday.

Other visits to Beds B and C will be carried out from 12-2pm and 4pm-6pm, the new rules say.

A spokesman said: "We know what an important time this is for families and appreciate your understanding as we keep you safe."

More Covid-19 coverage:

Visiting times in individual rooms, or if you stay on delivery suite following birth, will be 10am-12 noon and 2-4pm.

During labour one birth partner will be allowed – with only birth partners allowed to visit the unit at the hospital.

No changes have been made to the antenatal clinics or scans as health chiefs await further Government guidance.
