Spotty Otter has launched a JCB collection to help families get outdoors whatever the weather
Spotty Otter has teamed up with Staffordshire engineering giant JCB to launch a new children’s clothing range as Government research shows fewer than half of children spend time in outdoor spaces outside school every day or most days.

A new children’s clothing collection inspired by outdoor adventure has gone on sale as research shows many youngsters are still not spending enough time outside.
Spotty Otter has launched a JCB collection, designed to help families get outdoors whatever the weather. The range includes waterproof dungarees and fleece-lined wellies, with the look and feel inspired by JCB’s iconic engineering heritage.
Designed for everything from Forest School sessions and countryside walks to muddy puddles and farm adventures, the range combines technical performance with playful design.
The launch comes as Government research highlights growing concerns around children’s connection with nature, with poor weather remaining one of the biggest barriers.
Indy Dhillon, brand manager at Spotty Otter, said: “Children shouldn’t have to wait for sunshine before they can enjoy being outdoors. Whether its building dens, jumping in muddy puddles, exploring the countryside or helping out in the garden, some of the best childhood memories are made outside.
“JCB is recognised around the world, but it also has strong roots here in our region, making this collaboration even more special.
“We know parents want their children to spend less time on screens and more time outdoors, but the weather often gets in the way. That’s exactly why we’ve created this collection with JCB. It's designed to keep children warm, dry and comfortable so they can enjoy adventures whatever the forecast.”
The collection combines waterproof fabrics, four-way stretch, reflective detailing and adjustable fittings to keep children warm, dry and comfortable whatever the weather.
Each piece is fully washable and built to last - designed to be handed down between siblings, friends and families. The designs feature hand-drawn illustrations of JCB machinery through the years alongside the brand’s iconic yellow and black colours, celebrating one of Britain’s best-known engineering brands while encouraging the next generation to embrace outdoor adventure.
Designed to last, the collection also encourages a sustainable approach to children’s clothing by creating products that can be handed down without compromising on performance.
Sam Johnson, senior licensing manager at JCB, said: “From the very beginning, this partnership with Spotty Otter felt like a natural fit. Their reputation for creating durable, high-quality children’s clothing aligns closely with JCB’s own values around quality, reliability and British heritage.
“The collection successfully brings together our brand identity and Spotty Otter’s technical expertise, creating products that we believe will appeal strongly to families who already have an affinity with the JCB brand. It’s exciting to see our heritage interpreted in a fresh and engaging way for a new generation.”
The collection is available now at spottyotter.co.uk.
