The fire ripped through the house yesterday afternoon.

Four fire crews from West Midlands Fire Service responded to the scene of a fire on Enville Road in the Warstones area at around 8pm.

On arrival, crews discovered the house, which was ablaze at the time, with crews urging neighbours to ‘please avoid the area where possible’.

The flames have since been quelled, with neighbours on the street sharing their shock at the turn of events.

One neighbour, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It was a bit shocking to see. I didn’t really see it all until the fire engines got here, but it was horrible.

“There were a lot of people in the street at the time. I hope everyone is okay.”

Other residents have offered their thoughts to the affected family, saying that everyone needs to ‘come together’ as a community.

Pamela Conners, aged 65, of the area, said: “It’s really sad, really. You could imagine the damage that the fire has done inside the home.

“I hope everyone’s alright. If they need anything, we should all try to help.”

Pictures taken by the Express & Star show the fire-damaged house, with plywood on its front door and window, and an upstairs window destroyed and smoke-damaged.

“I could see the smoke coming from the window”, one neighbour said.

“It looked really bad from out here. I’ve never been so close to a house fire before; it’s really quite scary. I hope the family are okay.”

West Midlands Fire Service have been approached for an update on the blaze.
