No coronavirus deaths in region for ninth day

No new coronavirus deaths have been reported in hospitals across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire for the ninth day running.

The total number of people who have died in the region's hospitals from coronavirus remains at 2,561.

It comes as the deaths in hospitals across England increased by 15 – bringing the total to 29,515. A UK-wide total will be announced later.

A total of 382 people have died at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals.

Elsewhere, 287 have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, while 264 have died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital.

A total of 230 have died at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, while 355 people have died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust, which runs County Hospital in Stafford and Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The death toll at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, the largest in the region, stands at 972.

The trust runs the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals in Birmingham.
