Reverend David Weller has been sacked

The Reverend David Weller, chaplain at St Peter’s Collegiate School, in Wolverhampton, was suspended earlier this month following a complaint.

The Diocese of Lichfield, which runs the school, has now confirmed that his contract has been terminated.

No details of the complaint have been released, although it is not thought to involve a criminal investigation.

The Compton Park-based school's headteacher David Lewis remains suspended over a separate issue.

A spokesperson for the diocese said: “Following an investigation into a complaint against him, David Weller has had his contract terminated as chaplain at St Peter’s Collegiate School.

"Arrangements are being made to provide alternative chaplaincy support for students at St Peter’s.

“There is no further update at this stage about the school’s principal.

"The two matters are being treated separately and are not linked.

"As always, the education and wellbeing of students remains our priority.”
