Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor has been sent death threats after injuring One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson during a charity football match.

Fans of the pop heartthrob took to Twitter to vent their anger at Agbonlahor after Tomlinson limped off during the game.

The pair were playing in Stiliyan Petrov's charity game at Celtic Park.

Agbonlahor, aged 26, tackled the 21-year-old popstar, who is on the books at Doncaster Rovers, knocking him to the ground.

The pair shook hands afterwards but Tomlinson was forced to hobble off and was later sick at the side of the pitch.

The challenge sparked a flurry of Twitter abuse from some fans of One Direction.

Speaking after the game, Agbonlahor said it was 'just one of those things'.

"I'll apologise to Louis when we meet up with everybody else after the game," he said.

"I know he enjoyed playing in the game and it's fantastic that he took time out to be here and the same with everybody who played."

The charity match was organised by Petrov, who was forced to retire from football following a battle with leukaemia.
