West Midlands Police will have extra resources in place, including teams from traffic, dogs and mounted units, as part of intensified activity in the borough.

On a rolling basis, Operation Advance visits each local policing area in the West Midlands and this month it is Walsall’s turn.

Activity has already started, with officers heading out to arrest suspects wanted for a range of offences.

Later on in the day, officers will be targeting dangerous drivers, violent offenders, anti-social behaviour and shop crime.

Chief Inspector Lee Wiggan, from Walsall Police, said: “Operation Advance sees staff and officers from every local and wider police force department locally working together with partners to deliver 24 hours of intensive police operations.

“We will be using all of our resources as an opportunity to tackle issues in the borough that matter most to you.

“We have lots of activities planned on the day and we’re confident it will be a great success.

“When you see our officers out and about, come and have a chat and tell us about issues concerning you.”
