Two men charged with shop theft offences in Walsall

Two men were arrested and charged with shop theft offences in Walsall as part of a police operation.

Jay Marsh, aged 34, from Walsall, was arrested by West Midlands Police offcers and charged with 11 theft offences in Walsall and Bloxwich.

He was remanded to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday (September 8) for a first hearing. No details are available yet of his appearance.

Jamie Cater, aged 41, from Walsall, was also arrested and charged with two thefts and one charge of assault. 

He was also remanded to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court for a first hearing. No details are available yet of his appearance.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The arrests were made as part of a #SaferStreetsSummer operation where we carry out patrols and support local businesses.

"It is part of a national initiative running in town centres and high streets across the UK focusing on anti-social behaviour, retail and street crime.

"We also run Operation Marigold which targets business crime and those carrying out shop thefts."
