Dozens of youngsters have been shown how to play a host of wheelchair sports by a long-standing Wolverhampton club.

Sporting Club Rhinos have spent three weeks at Aldersley Leisure Village showing both able-bodied and disabled athletes how to play games including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby league and wheelchair tennis.

They have also had the chance to try wheelchair curling, wheelchair short tennis and wheelchair indoor athletics.

Around 55 young people have benefited from coaching while the sessions have taken place.

Alan Caron, the head coach of the club's basketball programme, said they had even unearthed some youngsters with talents who would now make it into the club's youth teams.

Mr Caron, who has been with the club for 14 years, added: "The turnout has been magnificent and from that turnout we've actually identified some young people for our junior basketball programmes.

"We've been delighted with how it's gone."

Sessions were run by Mike Porter, the club's junior coach as well as with the wheelchair tennis coach Scott Smith and multi-sports coach Steven Raeburn.
