Barn-find historic motorbikes, engines and retro cars exceed £11,700 in Lichfield auction

A collection of motorcycles, engines and parts discovered in a barn find during a Lichfield house clearance has totalled £11,724 at auction.
Everything went under the hammer with Richard Winterton Auctioneers at The Lichfield Auction Centre, Fradley Park, on Monday September 14.
The sale included a ‘smorgasbord of old British motorbike parts’ including engines, tanks, seats, frames, wheels, headlights and mudguards with brands such as BSA, Norton, AJS, AMS and Villiers.

Highlights were a late 1940s Douglas T35 Mk 3 motorcycle for restoration, with a twin-cylinder boxer engine and two Amal carbs, sold at £1,900, and a 1940s Scott Flying Squirrel motorcycle with a Scott twin-cylinder water-cooled engine, in 'true barn-find condition', sold at £1,350.
Two very different cars from the same barn find – a 1984 seafoam green Nissan (Datsun) Sunny, an early example of the model bearing both brand badges on the back, and a 1930s Morris Minor tourer ready for restoration, fetched £1,600 and £900 respectively.
The sale also featured other vehicles including a red 1977 MG B Roadster sports car with removable coupe top, recovered from another local house clearance, sold at £1,700, and a first edition 2018 Kia Stonic hatchback, sold at £6,000.
