7 adorable photos mark special birthday for West Midlands Fire dog that sniffs out arson
Holly, the fire investigation dog, has turned 5!
West Midlands Fire Service have shared seven adorable snaps of a special member of their team to mark her fifth birthday.
Holly, a fire investigation dog, celebrated the special day with her handler Anette yesterday (June 5).
The four-legged emergency responder plays an important role in determining the source of a blaze as she is specially trained to detect traces of ignitable liquids, helping investigators determine whether fires may have been started deliberately.
In a birthday message on social media, the fire service wrote: “Happy birthday to our wonderful Fire Investigation Dog Holly, who turns five today! Holly has been part of WMFS since May 2025 and plays a hugely important role within our Fire Investigation Team.
“Working alongside her handler, Annette, Holly is specially trained to detect traces of ignitable liquids, helping investigators determine whether fires may have been started deliberately.
“So far, she has assisted with multiple investigations across the West Midlands and neighbouring counties, supported West Midlands Police during premises searches, and taken part in regular training sessions with a variety of handlers and their dogs.
“She’s also a familiar face at many of our sites, where she is loved by staff across the service!Happy 5th birthday, Holly and thank you for all your hard work!”
