The Brummies home, Perry Barr Stadium, is being sold off for housing despite being opposite the empty apartment blocks which were meant to house Commonwealth Games athletes.

The final night of greyhounds at the stadium was on Saturday night and the tapes went up for the final time for speedway last night (Monday). The stadium, which opened in 1928 as a home for the Birchfield Harriers, is being sold for housing development. Its greyhound racing will move to a new track in Dunstall Park Racecourse.

The Brummies were the last club standing after Wolves, Cradley Heath and Coventry all crashed out of the sport due to being homeless.

However, Wolves speedway fans have been travelling to Birmingham since the end of racing at Monmore Green last year. They took over a part of the stands and branded it the Wolfpack Shack.

They walked the track for one final time together. Mark Rabone said: "The Wolfpack did the final track walk at Perry Barr on the last ever night."
