Bus operator National West Midlands said the numbers 51 and X51 which run between Walsall and the city centre and serving the Perry Barr stadium off A34 Walsall Road are being to Beeches Road and Aldridge Road instead. The UK Athletics Championships is taking place today(2) until 7.30pm and and tomorrow(3) from 11.30am-4.35pm.

In addition, due to engineering work the Cross City Line running between New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley is closed until Monday for meaning there are no trains from Perry Barr and Witton.

The bus firm posted on X: "@TransportForWM Due to traffic congestion, @NXWestmidlands  bus NX 51, X51 are diverting via Beeches Road, Aldridge Road, Wellhead Lane. Allow extra time to travel."
