Chasetown FCNew signing Reece Styche made a dream debut for Chasetown as they overcame Lincoln United in a FA Trophy tie.

The new-boy could not have got off to a better start for the Scholars, as a goal kick from Ryan Price bounced over the Lincoln defence and the former Shepshed man lobbed the ball over Mario Ziccardi for his first Scholars goal after just three minutes.

Ten minutes later United striker Sean Cann fired a shot just wide despite having lost a boot, before Styche impressed again with a good run into the area but this time Ziccardi palmed his shot away for a corner, and a one-to-one with the keeper then came to nought.

Cann then went close once again for the home side and Mark Branch sent a free kick wide after Gary Birch had been pushed in the back by Ian Hawkins, before the home side drew level on 27 minutes. ann sent a cross into the area from the goal line, and while the Scholars appealed for a goal kick Matt O'Halloran smashed the ball home.

Richard Batchelor was also impressing for Chasetown and had three chances, the third cleared by Hawkins with the keeper beaten, while Richard Teesdale hit the woodwork.

Three minutes into the second half the Scholars were back in front,as Vaughan Thomas rose to meet Steane's free kick and the ball crept in off his shoulder at the far post.

Chasetown closed out the game in style to set up a visit to Lancaster City in the next round on October 17th, and are back in League action this Tuesday as they host Witton Albion (7.45pm kick-off).
