Major change as Kellogg’s removes rice from Rice Krispies due to ‘changing weather conditions’

Rice Krispies will be made with rice flour going forward, while Coco Pops will be made with a blend of rice flour and cornflour.

Both barley malt extract and wheat gluten now feature on the ingredients list, making the products unsuitable for those with gluten allergies like Coeliac Disease. The products used to show a warning of cross contamination.

A Kellogg’s spokesperson said: “This recent change helps us maintain consistent quality at a time when changing weather conditions are affecting the quality and availability of some of the rice and grains used in our cereals.

“We appreciate that even small changes to a much-loved product can feel noticeable and that’s why we have approached this with a lot of care and consideration.”
