Gregory, who plays young villain Ryan Pilkington in the hit BBC show, was a guest at Dudley College, where he attended as an acting student, and offered advice to students keen to follow in his footsteps.

The Halesowen-born actor returned to the latest series having been one of the original stars of the show when it first started back in 2012 when he gave a memorable performance as a child gang member.

His return was a treat for fans who have been with the programme from the very start and was the first time viewers had seen his character since the first series.

Line of Duty, written by Jed Mercurio, who is originally from Cannock, has been a huge hit and is the most-watched show of 2019 so far.

Fortunately for the college students, Gregory is nothing like his menacing on-screen persona as he posed for pictures and answered questions.

Dudley College said on Twitter: “Our fantastic former acting student Gregory Piper, who stars in series one and five of Line of Duty as evil gang member Ryan Pilkington returned to college to share his experiences and offer advice to our current 1st year BTEC acting students in a great Q and A session!”
