Wolverhampton community groups showcase artwork in new exhibition
Embroidery, screen prints and video created by local groups feature in an installation at Wolverhampton Art Gallery
Artwork created by Wolverhampton community groups is on display as part of a new exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

The groups worked with three local artists to produce pieces for an installation called Market Stall, which forms part of British sculptor Permindar Kaur’s major solo exhibition, Dread Naught.
Artists Kanj Nicholas, India Birtwistle and Roo Dhissou worked with Wolverhampton Sikh & Punjabi Women’s Group, Wolverhampton Girl Guides and Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary respectively.

The groups created embroidery, screen prints and video works, which are now on display in the gallery.
Councillor Stephen Simkins, leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome British artist Permindar Kaur’s largest exhibition of new work to Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

“The exhibition creates opportunities for local people to contribute and see their own stories reflected through the addition of the community-led Market Stall installation.”
Entry is free.
