Historic vehicles raise more than £50,000 at Staffordshire auction
Iconic sports cars among vehicles fetching thousands at Lichfield sale
A collection of historic cars and motorbikes has raised more than £50,000 at a Lichfield auction.

Bidders gathered in person, online and by telephone for Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ vehicle sale at The Lichfield Auction Centre on July 27, with a range of classic and restored vehicles going under the hammer.
The top-selling vehicle was a restored 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint fixed head sports coupe, which sold for £17,700.

The red, gold and white sports car had previously attracted attention when it was displayed at The Alrewas Show alongside Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ stand.
The winning bidder, from the Burton area, said owning the model had been a long-held ambition.
“It has been a dream to own this specific model since I was 16 – and I’m not 16 anymore,” they said. “I couldn’t be happier.”
Other vehicles attracting interest included a 1974 Innocenti Mini Cooper, which sold for £8,800, and a restored 1967 MG B Roadster convertible, which reached £5,000.

A 1956 ex-military 88-inch Series One Land Rover, which entered service with the Durham Light Infantry before later being registered for road use, sold for £7,250.
A 1964 Austin-Healey ‘Frogeye’ restoration project made £3,400.
The auction also featured a selection of classic motorbikes, including a 1938 Velocette GTP 250cc, which sold for £1,900, and a 1966 Royal Enfield Turbo Twin 250cc, which reached £1,150.
A 1955 BSA Golden Flash 650cc requiring restoration sold for £3,600.
The auction’s vehicles achieved a combined hammer price of £50,110.
