Dudley Mayor to attend Stourbridge spoken word night
Performances can range from poetry and prose to short stories and observations on everyday life
The Mayor of Dudley will be among the audience at a spoken word night in Stourbridge next week as local writers and performers take to the stage.

Councillor Pete Lowe will attend The People’s Platform Spoken Word Open Mic Night at Stourbridge Social in Mill Race Lane on Wednesday, August 19.
The regular event gives poets, writers and storytellers from across the region an opportunity to perform their work in front of a live audience.
Performances can range from poetry and prose to short stories and observations on everyday life.
The People’s Platform was created with the aim of making art accessible and giving people an opportunity to share their own stories, experiences and ideas.

Organisers said they were pleased to welcome the Mayor as an honoured guest and are expecting another strong turnout following previous events.
The evening is open to performers and members of the audience, with no admission charge.
Doors open at 6.45pm, with parking available nearby.
Organisers are also encouraging people who have never attended a spoken word event to come along, whether they want to perform their own work or simply listen to writers and performers from the area.
The People’s Platform describes the ethos behind the event with the message: “Because art is the voice of the people.”
